1. Scope of Application

These terms apply to all orders placed by consumers. By submitting information to us or placing an order through our website or in our physical store, the customer agrees to the terms and conditions of Star Image. If the order is placed online, the seller of the products and services is Star Image. However, depending on the location, the products or services may be delivered by a franchised company, affiliate, sister company, or another entity within the same corporate group operating under the Star Image brand.

2. Data Protection

Star Image complies with applicable laws regarding the collection and processing of personal data. Please refer to Star Image’s Privacy Policy.

Photographs provided by the customer will be used solely for processing orders. Photo data will be deleted no later than 60 days after the order has been processed. See section 4.2 for content storage responsibility.

3. Ordering Process

3.1. Prices

Our current product range and pricing are displayed on our website. Prices include VAT. Product selection, pricing, and shipping fees may vary. Star Image reserves the right to update pricing and payment terms. Discount codes or offers cannot be combined and are limited to one per order.

3.2. Order Processing

Orders will be confirmed via email as soon as possible. The confirmation will be sent to the email address provided during the order. Items from the same order may be delivered in separate shipments if necessary. Shipping costs will only be charged once per order.

The order remains the property of the seller until fully paid. If a pricing or system error occurs, and the price does not match the advertised one—or if the customer knowingly or deliberately exploits an error, or the error is such that a customer should reasonably have noticed it—the seller reserves the right to cancel the transaction.

Please note that if we detect content as described in section 4.2, we reserve the right to cease processing the order and forward the content to the relevant authorities.

3.3. Payment Methods

Orders placed on the website can be paid using the available payment options listed. Payments are processed via Stripe and Paytrail. Customers can pay via major credit cards, bank transfers, or mobile payments. For consumer terms, visit https://stripe.com/ and https://www.paytrail.com/. Payment options may vary in physical stores.

3.4. Delivery

Depending on the product, customers can choose in-store pickup (during opening hours) or delivery. Most products are available only via delivery.

Star Image delivers only to addresses within Finland. International deliveries are not available. Deliveries are made through our selected logistics partners. We aim to deliver directly to your mailbox or door. If that is not feasible, the order will be delivered to the nearest pickup point. Notifications are sent via SMS or email.

Shipping fees will be added to the order and shown at checkout.

An additional fee will be charged for returned packages due to incorrect address or failure to collect.

If delivery is delayed beyond the estimated time, we will inform the customer immediately. If the delay exceeds 30 days, the customer may cancel the order.

4. Responsibility for Content

4.1. Third-Party Rights

The customer is solely responsible for ensuring they hold the necessary rights (e.g. copyright or usage rights) to the submitted content and that the content does not infringe on others’ privacy. The customer must, at their own expense, defend against any claims related to content and compensate Star Image for any resulting damages.

4.2. Content Retention

We recommend customers always back up their photos. Star Image is not obligated to store submitted content and is not liable for any damage or loss of the photos or related damages.

In-store pickup orders are stored for a minimum of 1 month. We will attempt to contact the customer at least three times using the provided contact information. If uncollected after 3 months, the order will be destroyed. Original materials (e.g. negatives, films) are retained for a maximum of 3 months. By submitting film or other media for development, the customer agrees to pay for the service. These retention periods apply.

4.3. Compliance with Law and Good Practice

The customer is responsible for ensuring the submitted content is not illegal, immoral, or inappropriate. If Star Image suspects content relates to unlawful activity, we may terminate the order and forward the content and customer information to authorities. We will always comply with official requests.

4.4. Quality, Color Profiles, and Format of Customer-Submitted Content

The customer is responsible for ensuring that submitted files for photo products, printed materials, and photographic prints are in the correct format and color space to best support accurate physical reproduction, typically printed using the CMYK color space. RGB color spaces differ from CMYK, and the additive nature of RGB (screen-based) color rendering may result in visual differences when compared to subtractive (print-based) rendering. Star Image does not guarantee color accuracy unless specifically agreed upon in advance, using selected and guided color profiles along with test proofs. Such arrangements primarily apply to business services and are subject to separate pricing.

For consumer services, photographic and paper prints are intended for personal use and not for professional resale or high-precision commercial applications. Star Image is not responsible for any defects in physical products resulting from graininess, poor quality, low resolution, incorrect color space, file format, or other similar issues in the materials submitted by the customer.

In edge-to-edge printing or full-bleed production, trimming occurs to ensure complete image coverage. Customers must account for margins and bleed areas when preparing photo or product layouts. It is not possible to avoid trimming unless extra white space is included in the image. If the customer wants the entire image to appear within the printed product or photo, they must order a product with white borders or submit a file with built-in white margins and a crop ratio that matches the final product exactly, including the required bleed on all sides. Printed images also include tolerance margins; for example, a 10 × 15 cm photo corresponds to approximately 102 × 152 mm in standard media formats.

5. Right of Withdrawal

Products purchased in-store are not eligible for return or exchange. Business customers do not have a right to cancel or return orders or services.

The following rights of withdrawal apply only to consumer sales.

Not all products sold remotely are eligible for withdrawal under consumer protection laws. Exclusions are listed in the Finnish Consumer Protection Act. According to Section 16(1)(3), consumers cannot cancel orders for products made or modified to their specifications or clearly personalized.

Products that include the customer’s own images fall under this category. Therefore, photo and personalized image products are non-refundable, even if ordered online. If the customer orders film development, image editing, or other services, they cannot cancel if the service has been started. If partially delivered, the customer must pay for the work completed.

No cancellation is allowed for perishable goods or products that, due to their nature, are inseparably mixed with others. Film products are non-refundable due to their sensitivity to improper storage.

If the consumer orders a product not excluded from the withdrawal right, they may cancel the purchase within 14 days. The cancellation notice must be sent via email to info@starimage.fi within 14 days of receiving the product. The customer bears the cost of the return.

If eligible, the product must be returned with all original accessories and in good condition. Damaged items or missing packaging may reduce the refund amount. Customers may inspect the product but must not use it. For specific products, opening the package may void the right to return.

6. Complaints and Defects

Star Image strives to achieve the highest quality and precision in all products. If you notice a defect in a delivered product, please contact us without delay at info@starimage.fi.

Under consumer protection law, the customer is entitled to a replacement if the delivered product is incorrect, contains a design or manufacturing defect, or is damaged during delivery before it reaches the customer.

Our ordering system will issue a warning if the image submitted is too low in quality for printing. If dissatisfaction with the product quality is due to poor image quality provided by the customer, the product is not considered defective under consumer protection law. In such cases, the responsibility lies with the customer, and Star Image is not obligated to issue a replacement or refund. If you are unsure about your image quality, you are welcome to contact our customer service before placing your order.

If a complaint is submitted without valid reason, Star Image reserves the right to charge the customer a reasonable fee to cover the costs of inspection.

Please also review section 4.4 for important information regarding the customer’s responsibility for providing properly formatted material.

7. Dispute Resolution

These terms are governed by Finnish law.

Star Image aims to resolve all disputes through negotiation. If no resolution is reached, consumers may contact the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board after first consulting Consumer Advisory Services.

If any provision of these terms is found invalid or incomplete, the remaining provisions remain effective.

Star Image reserves the right to update these terms at any time.

Annex 1: Withdrawal Form

Right of Withdrawal

You have the right to withdraw from a contract concerning a product covered by the Finnish Consumer Protection Act within 14 days, without giving any reason.

The withdrawal period expires 14 days after [1].

To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must notify us [2] of your decision to withdraw from the contract with a clear statement (for example, by email). You may use the attached withdrawal form, but its use is not mandatory. [3]

To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient that you send your notice concerning the exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.

Effects of Withdrawal

If you withdraw from this contract, we will refund all payments we have received from you, including delivery costs (excluding any additional costs resulting from your choice of a delivery method other than the least expensive standard delivery we offer), without undue delay and in any event no later than 14 days from the day we receive your notice of withdrawal. We will carry out the reimbursement using the same payment method you used for the original transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise, and in any case, you will not incur any fees as a result of the reimbursement. Instructions for completing the form:

[1] Insert one of the following, as applicable:
a) For a service contract or contract for digital content delivered electronically: “the conclusion of the contract.”
b) For a sales contract: “the day you received the goods.”
c) For a sales contract involving multiple goods delivered separately: “the day you received the last item.”
d) For a sales contract for goods delivered in parts or installments: “the day you received the last consignment or part.”
e) For contracts involving regular delivery of goods: “the day you received the first item.”

[2] Insert your name, geographical address, and, if available, your telephone number, fax number, and email address.

[3] If you provide the option for the consumer to notify withdrawal via your website, insert the following text:
“You can also fill in and submit the withdrawal form or another clear statement electronically on our website [insert website address]. If you use this option, we will immediately acknowledge receipt of your withdrawal notice on a durable medium (e.g. by email).”

[4] If you do not offer to collect the goods in the event of withdrawal, insert the following text:
“We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or you have supplied evidence of having returned the goods, whichever is earlier.”

[5] If the consumer has received goods under the contract:

You must return or hand over the goods to us without undue delay and in any case no later than 14 days from the date you notify us of your withdrawal. The deadline is met if you return the goods before the 14-day period has expired.

You will be responsible for the direct costs of returning the goods.

You are liable only for any diminished value of the goods resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics, and functioning of the goods.

If you have requested that the service begin during the withdrawal period, you are required to pay us reasonable compensation for the portion of the service provided up to the point at which you notified us of your withdrawal.
